Hello, all.

Today I held a ceremony to honor my angel.

I'd typed up and printed words I wanted to say to my baby, the lyrics to one of my favorite songs that helps me through, titled "A World Apart" (some of you read the lyrics on the forum), words of thanks to my family and friends for their support, and more. On the front, with the baby's name, was the same picture that is my avatar. My chosen colors were yellow and green.

It was a beautiful day for the ceremony which was held at a local park. I passed out the typed programs to each guest and I read aloud as they followed. I explained why I chose the names for my baby, that he/she could have shared a birthday with my mom, that I'd looked forward to having my baby being loved by them all, and I played "A World Apart" on a portable stereo. Everyone said the song was perfect for the occasion and many of them shed tears because it was so touching.

I had a ring custom-made for my baby and myself with our birthstones, and I wore it for the first time, today. Everyone thought it was beautiful.

When I passed out the programs, everyone was finally let in on what my baby's name is. It was printed on the first page and I announced it as well.

My baby's name is - Kai Angel.
I didn't want to share it with anyone until today, so now all of you know, too.
I've liked the name Kai for a long time, and I wanted something that was Native-American as I'm part Native-American. The name Kai is Hawaiian and NA, meaning "Ocean". The NA spelling is Cai, but a friend who is Cherokee told me that the spelling with a 'K' wouldn't matter. I thought the name fit well as I feel that my love for my baby will be a never ending force just like the ocean. I chose Angel for the middle name as that's what my baby is. I hyphenated my last name with the father's last name.

At the end of the ceremony, we each released a yellow and green balloon into the sky. It was quite beautiful...twenty balloons soaring high at a fast pace and all of them remained closely together as they climbed high and out of sight. I loved that! It was as if all of our love was combined in those balloons wouldn't pull apart. We stood there for several minutes and watched those balloons and people in the park took pictures of them. I thought that was nice.

Everyone wrote words of support on little cards for me and I'll read them later tonight and any time I feel down.
They all said the ceremony was beautiful, sweet and very touching. I'm so glad they enjoyed it.

We all went to dinner at a restaurant afterward and it was very nice.

Years ago, I bought a white bonnet and a pair of blue socks to save for my first child. Kai was my first, so I'll continue to hold on to those items and keep them in a keepsakes box along with the cards with words of encouragement from my family and friends.

I've cried since I've been home tonight, but I also feel a little better at knowing I did what I set out to do...honored my little Kai. I was able to take a good deep breath and let out a little more of the then tension.

It feels good to be able to say my baby's name along with all of you who say you baby's name.

Thank you for listening.

Wow, what a strong and brave woman you are! God's arms of grace were wrapped around you. I can't imagine how you must have felt as you were planning the ceremony. It sounds like it was a beautiful memorial. I am so glad to hear that you had supportive family and friends to witness it.

Aww, thank you, Sharon. I really appreciate that.

I'm glad I decided to hold the ceremony as it did allow a little more peace to come into my heart, thank God.

I'm very glad and grateful that my family and friends were there, too.

Take care.
