04/25/2008 7:22 AM Alert
I am having an IUI sometime early next week. This will be our first try since our son Drew was stillborn on Dec. 27, 2007 at 40 wk gestation from UCA.
Doctors have given it about 8% chance to work. We are urged to go IVF due to male factor issues.
I am unsure about doing IVF right now because my OB told me that I have a higher risk of miscarriage right now. He said that the risk of miscarriage goes up within the first year postpartum of a full term delivery.
Please pray for the IUI to work, but if it doesn't then I need guidance for future treatments.

Thank you,
Sharon

I went today to check on my ovaries. None of the follicles seem to be ready to ovulate. I go back on Tuesday to see if that has changed. Otherwise, this cycle is a bust.
I'll keep you updated.

Sharon,
I haven't had to deal with this type of problem, but I feel as if I am starting to understand how difficult it can be from all of the forums I have read. I can, however, relate to how frustrating it can be when you are waiting to become pregnant. I felt like I was going crazy each month that passed and I wasn't pregnant when we had our daughter (she is 4). That only lasted 6 months, but I can be extremely impatient, especially about becoming pregnant. Now I see that I had it really easy compared to others.
I feel for everyone who has to endure all that goes into having difficulty getting pregnant. I will keep you in my prayers! Try to stay patient and remember that God has His perfect timing for all things, especially this!
I am so sorry about Drew and will also pray that this baby will not have any problems and will be a true blessing for you and your loved ones. I delivered our son Josiah this month at almost 19 weeks (he was only 15 weeks in size though) and we may try again after his due date in September. I haven't been through what you have, but I understand there can be many worried associated with trying after a loss. We had just had a previous miscarriage before I was pregnant with him. It was early on and yet I was nervous through much of this pregnancy. I now wish that I had spent more of my time enjoying it. I pray you will not only have patience and peace as you all try to conceive, but that everything concerning this pregnancy will be surrounded by supernatural joy. I am believing for you to have a perfectly healthy baby!

Keep us posted!
Be blessed in every way,
Lisa Day

Hi.

I, like Lisa, have not had to deal with this same set of difficulties. But I also know what it is like to wait, what seems like an eternity, to find out if you are preg.

One of my husband's family members suggested that I should have bought stock in a pregnancy test company, and just stuck with the same brand every time!

Anyway, my prayers are with you.

God bless,
Erin

Alright prayer warriors! I am now on birth control pills for one cycle to prepare for the IVF procedure.
My husband and I are going to attend a class on IVF to get more information before the treatments officially start.
I will keep you informed throughout the process and will need plenty of prayer and support.
Thank you to everyone for understanding and taking the time to care.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) we are going to the IVF class to learn about the procedure. I am praying for us to gain a complete understanding of the procedure and to have peace about our decision.

We also have to pay for the entire treatment tomorrow.
Please pray that we will be blessed financially to replace our savings.

We will order the meds and be ready to go when my cycle starts again.

Thank you ladies. Without your support and prayers I would be very nervous.

Update:

We went to the IVF class yesterday. We learned a lot and the doctor said that we have a great chance of getting pregnant.

The doctor found a new ovarian cyst so we won't be able to start treatment until it shrinks. Hopefully we can start in July.

Please pray for my husband. He is really afraid to give me the intramuscular shots. I know he doesn't want to hurt me, but they are necessary.

Thanks again for all of the prayers!

Sharon,

Absolutely will be praying! I take such comfort in seeing the strength that you have. I know it must be God in you, for I don't think anyone could keep on going the way you do without Him.

May I pray for you...

Lord I lift Sharon and her dear husband up to you and I thank you for them. I ask you Lord to hear their prayers and to bless them with a perfectly healthy baby. God I pray specifically for Sharon's body and command it to come into the divine order in which it is intended to be. I speak to that cyst and say ... Cease NOW!!! You must dissipate and never come back. I speak to her entire reproductive system and say... be fruitful and multiply as the Lord orders!!! I speak to Sharon's heart and mind and say...rest...be at complete peace...find joy and peace that surpass all understanding...let it come only from God. I also pray for Sharon's husband that he will find the courage to give her the shots that she needs and that they will supernaturally not hurt her, releasing him of any guilt or pain that he may be walking in, unnecessarily. Give them both peace!!!

I thank you Father and ask all these things in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ...Amen!

I hope you don't mind, I just felt led to pray for you here and now.

Have a very blessed day!

This weekend I start the Lupron shots to prepare for the ovarian stimulation in about a week or so. I am still on b/c pills until July 5.

I just pray that the ovarian cyst is gone and that we are clear to progress with the treatment.

Thank you for the prayers.

Sharon,
I still believe for a full recovery and NO MORE CYSTS!!!!
Keep us posted and lots and lots of love,
Lisa

PS. I am anxiously wanting to get off my b/c pills, too. I feel in prisoned by them. Does that make any sense? I have at least one more cycle on them before we will know if the treatment plan I have made with the doctor will work or not.

I pray nothing but God's complete best for you and your husband!!!

Being on b/c pills is frustrating. I don't feel like I am moving towards my goal of having a baby as long as I am on them. Each pill is like another reminder that I won't be pregnant that month.

I will feel "liberated" when I stop taking them on Saturday!

I go to the doctor on Thursday morning to see if the cyst has resolved. Please pray for good news so that we can progress with the treatment.

I have had no side effects with the medication so far and giving myself shots has not been a problem.

Thank you for the prayers and keep on praying. They are working!

Hello all!

We went to the appointment yesterday and saw the nurse. The cyst is gone!!! We are cleared to start the active treatment drugs on Sunday. These daily injections will put my ovaries into super-drive to produce lots of eggs. I will do this for about a week or so.

The main risk of this medication is ovarian hyperstimulation. This is a dangerous condition that can cause multiple problems including hospitilization and surgery. That is why the doctor will monitor my progress closely.

Please continue to pray that I will have no adverse reactions or side effects to the new medication.

Jenni,

I feel really good most of the time. I have had some headaches, hot flashes, and nausea. All in all, not too bad.

I go back to the doctor on Friday and we'll see if this dose is right. I am thinking that the retrieval will be next week.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

I am on Lupron, Metformin, and Gonal F. My mood hasn't changed (I don't think). I guess you could ask my husband!

My Gonal F dose is 262.5 IU. I was supposed to get Follistim at 250 but there was a huge savings of over $1000 with the switch.

Today we went to the doctor to check on my progress with the injectables. I am doing really well and responding great to the medication.

There are about 10 well-developed follicles and 10 small follicles that may develop also. We go back again tomorrow morning for another check up.

He is thinking they will do the egg retrieval on Monday or Tuesday. That is earlier than I expected but I'm glad things are going so well. The embryo transfer will be 3-5 days after the retrieval.

This is really good news and I am very optimistic. I am only thinking positive thoughts because I have faith in God's goodness. Of course I am also realistic, but preparing myself for possible disappointment won't do me any good. I have already experienced the greatest disappointment and recovered. I know I can handle anything.

Thank you again for the prayers.

Sharon I want to wish you the best of luck. As a fellow IVF person I know exactly what you are going through! I too get frustrated with the BC pills because it just seems so odd to be taking them! But they help to get the levels where they need to be. And the shots are pretty painless, but frustrating and take forever it seems! But it will all be worth it. I will pray that God helps you with a baby miracle during this IVF cycle.
Good luck and keep us posted on your results!!!

We went to the doctor today and found out that our retrieval will be on Wednesday, 7/23. Everything is happening really fast now after so much waiting.
I seem to have more than 20 developed follicles (eggs) so that is good news.
Please pray that the retrieval will go smoothly and that the doctor can harvest several healthy eggs. It's never too early to start praying for the fertilization process either. We need several eggs to fertilize and become healthy embryos.
